project overview.

Originally branded as the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity's "Gayla", a second chance prom for Queer and Trans students, the CSGD needed a new name and theme due to a legal hurdle of title ownership. Upon program review, the theme was decided among staff and students to use "Decades."Staff  and students voted on the name "Decadent Decades" and a sage green accent. This second-chance prom aimed to push education on the last century of LGBTQ+ history during Penn State's April pride month while providing a safe and celebratory inclusive event for all Penn State students.
targeting the problem.

As the only graphic designer tasked to pair with the programming team, tickets, posters,  education boards, digital signage, social media promotional, and overall look of the event needed to decided, approved, and created within a 3 week window for a print and postage deadline. Given three words: green, decades, decadent,  leaning into the visuals of ribbons, silks, and archaic collage was key.
